Summary

Unit 5 introduces important concepts and processes related to the time-honoured practice of storytelling in Aboriginal learning and literacy. This learning unit builds on the content and activities introduced in previous units, by elaborating on how Aboriginal storytelling can be incorporated into early childhood learning settings. Although storytelling is common across many cultures all over the world, Aboriginal storytelling fulfills several important cultural functions, including the passing on of oral history and the education of young community members.
