Summary

This learning unit explores ways to support young Aboriginal children with the literacy practices associated with schooling and that also honour their language, culture, values, and traditions. The learning unit is applicable to Aboriginal Head Start sites that are already incorporating early literacy components in family literacy programs or for those who are thinking about introducing or incorporating Aboriginal language traditions as a new initiative at their project site.
